{O Freedom, Where Art Thou}

I'm probably a little late to the party, but how about a little 4th of July weekend recap?

Fireworks.   Ice cream.    Food.

Family.  Friends.   Beach.

Independence Day has always been a favorite of mine -- the honoring of our military, remembering the history of our nation, parades, waving flags, military salutes, marching bands, picnic tables full of food, choreographed firework displays, lots of outdoor fun.

I'm in love with this country, but a conversation over the holiday led me to question if we're taking our freedoms for granted, and slowly having them removed.

This isn't me trying to rain on anybody's parade or get on a political soapbox, but how many areas are our freedoms being threatened or challenged in?  Health care, religion, right to bear arms, freedom of {religious} speech, child discipline, home education....  these are just the ones that came to mind in the first ten seconds.  There is a very obvious fight going on in our country to remove many of the freedoms that Americans hold so dear.

If things continue as they are, I pray that in another few years this country still has a flag to wave and a reason to put our hand over our heart.  May God have mercy on this county if it continues to turn its back on His principles.

Just food for thought.

That said, I'm all about sporting the Red, White, and Blue.

So thankful to live in the land of the free and home of the brave!
